Plant Care Syngonium Neon Pink

The Syngonium family is usually quite tolerant to low light conditions but this variety needs a little more sunlight due to the unique pink colour of its leaves. The more light the plant receives, the more colour and vibrancy you will see in its foliage. Although this variety enjoys natural sunlight, it doesn’t like to be in full, direct sun as its leaves will burn.

Allow the soil to dry out a bit between watering. If you’re not if it’s ready for a drink, poke your finger a couple of cm’s into the top of the soil and see if it’s moist. If so, hold off watering. If the under soil is dry, you can go ahead and water it. As with all plants, drainage is important, so make sure when you do water your Syngonium, the water has somewhere to go so it doesn’t sit at the bottom of the soil and cause root rot or fungal problems. You will notice if this plant needs water as the leaves will visibly look dehydrated and may start to curl or shrivel. If you notice what appears to be brown stains on the leaves, this could be an indication that you are overwatering your Syngonium.

The colour of your leaves will generally be a result of the plants lighting conditions. If they’re too light, it may be getting too much light. If they’re quite dark and more of a green than a pink, the plant may not have enough light. Try new spots in the home and see how it responds. It’s normal to have a mix of leaves, some appearing pink, some green and some in the middle. If you notice your Syngonium looks a bit leggy, it’s likely reaching for some more light. Try and move the plant to a brighter spot and trim it back to its original shape if desired. Use scissors or snips to remove any damaged or dying leaves so that it can redirect its resources to the healthy parts of the plant. Avoid the use of leaf shining products on this plant.
